BIO:
After graduating from Middlebury College in 1966 with a B.A. in Art History, Karen worked in the field of real estate in Michigan and Maine for nine years before entering University of Maine School of Law. After graduation in 1979, she was an Assistant Attorney General representing the Departments of Mental Health and Corrections and subsequently served as Assistant Counsel at the Maine State Housing Authority. In 1986 Karen became Assistant Bar Counsel at the Board of Overseers of the Bar where she served for sixteen years before joining this firm.

Karen specializes in the area of Ethics and Professional Responsibility while maintaining a general practice in real estate, probate and family law. Over the years she has given numerous CLE presentations to attorneys, paralegals and law office managers in the area of ethics and professional responsibility including the grievance process and fee arbitration matters.

Karen is a member of the Maine State Bar Association and the Kennebec County and Androscoggin County Bar Associations. She is a past member of the American Bar Association and the National Organization of Bar Counsel.

Karen lives in Hallowell, where she is a member of the Planning Board and the Secretary of the Old Hallowell Day and Christmas in Old Hallowell Committees. Karen is also on the Board of Trustees for the Washburn Norlands Living History Center, and serves as Secretary to the Board. She is also a Trustee on the Board of the Hubbard Free Library. Karen is a past participant in the New England Rural Leadership Conference and has recently been honored for her volunteer work. She enjoys reading, cooking and gardening. Her immediate family includes a son, Giles, and a daughter, Josselyn.
